la belle dame sans merci

la beauty woman sans merci-idyllic motivation Essay Question: Is La Belle Dame Sans Merci a sonnet about negative female generalizations or about graceful creation and idyllic reasonableness? La Belle Dame Sans Merci is written in ditty structure. Regularly the song is emotional, dense and indifferent: the storyteller starts with the climactic scene, recounts to the story abruptly by methods for activity or for this situation by methods for exchange alone. It is told without self reference or the statement of individual perspectives and sentiments. Keats doesn't vary here. Songs additionally utilize set recipes including stock enlightening expressions like crimson wine and milk-white horse. There is an abstain in every verse and gradual redundancy. Keats varies marginally in the song verse group making the last line of every refrain shorter than the others. La Belle Dame Sans Merci truly implies wonderful lady without feel sorry for. It is, by all accounts, a basic story depicting the evil destiny of a knight-at-arms. By the very name of the melody individuals can consider is to be about negative female generalizations. In any case, then again one can consider the to be as an artist that finds wonderful motivation represented in the figure of the lady and afterward has it leave him unexpectedly. Women's activists consider this to be another case of negative generalizing of ladies in writing an indication of whatever is going on in a general public ruling by patriarchan values. The male considers himself to be a casualty figure utilized severely by an evil, misleading seductress who utilizes charm to devastate a knight and make him disregard his obligations and duties. It is viewed as about the femme fatale. Just the male sentiment is communicated in the sonnet we hear just the knights side of the story. Some feel that the sonnet is about graceful creative mind, motivation and its loss. Mario L. DAvanzo says that it portrays impeccably the writers half circle curve of inventive consent, satisfaction and decay into the universe of the real world. The knight is contrasted with an artist and the passing pale warriors, rulers and lords could likewise have been contrasted with artists struggled by the real world and the finish of their innovative daze; while the woman is contrasted with the graceful motivation and the demonstration of lovely creation that enraptures them for some time and afterward leaves them. Keats repeating inconspicuous analogies with respect to the graceful procedure can be found in this number. The character of the knight fits the profile of one of Keats saints. Lord R. Wasserman said that all humans who occupied with minds battles are knights-at-arms. The ditty begins with a solid inquiry which is rehashed in the subsequent verse; asking what could trouble the knight. The chilly stormy climate and the forlorn scene portrayed witherd-in the initial two passages mirror the destruction that artists must suffer after their motivation has left them. The knight looked ravenous as demonstrated by the squirrels storehouse is full . . . harvests done-this could be deciphered as the knight being famished for motivation. The sad condition of the knight is brought about by the unexpected absence of wonderful creative mind and motivation. It has left him in anguish and pale. wild eyes and long hair are supposed to be two physical qualities of Keats muses, by DAvanzo. The wild eyes could likewise allude to the wild vitality of creative mind. The lady is supposed to be full wonderful just as being solid and wild, this recommends vagueness as found in creative mind. By putting her on his horse he attempts to control and manageable her which is futile. The lady is known as a fairys kid and is said to sing a faerys melody; this elfin nature is another relationship with idyllic creative mind. The knight isn't just a blameless casualty it was he that courts La Belle Dame and made a laurel for her head, And arm bands as well, and fragrant zone; the wreath could be deciphered as a woven sonnet. The mournful yet sweet groan gives a trace of the grievous future that is inescapable he would be constrained back to the real world. The knight couldn't make certain of its significance. He was the person who set her on his pacing horse. .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .postImageUrl , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .focused content territory { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:hover , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:visited , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:active { border:0!important; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; progress: obscurity 250ms; webkit-progress: murkiness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:active , .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:hover { mistiness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relat ive; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-enrichment: underline; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; fringe range: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: striking; line-stature: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-adornment: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46 af .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u08edf3577ee5bc125efcafc4711f46af:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Compare and complexity the manner in which the authors depict the guys and females in the two sonnets EssayThis romance can be contrasted with an artists look for motivation. The lady just began to sing after the knight had put her on his horse; as yet she was an aloof figure. The utilization of the combination for connotes that the delightful womans singing was the impact of the knights activity. The trading of blessings by the knight and the woman proposes congruity between the artist and creative mind. La Belle Dame gives the knight nourishment dew for motivation. The food she offered him was powerful and may have been intended to give profo und sustenance. By singing and talking in the bizarre tongue the woman offered the knight verbal sustenance for the creative mind. She had planted the underlying foundations of music and creative mind in him. There was additionally a great deal of suspicion on his side-since the lady communicated in an unusual language he could just think about what she was stating. she took a gander at me as she loved this could be deciphered either as she took a gander at him affectionately or she took a gander at him as though she was infatuated. What's more, he had expected that she had said I love thee valid. The language could have been abnormal on the grounds that to Keats idyllic creative mind is uncommon, new and illogical. The language was odd additionally in light of the fact that she was a mystical animal a fairys youngster. Her elfin grot could be an analogy for an asylum of creative mind and verse. Idyllic motivation and creative mind go to a top at the grot. There is no sign that the lady wilfully expelled the knight from her elfin grot and it has been contended that the association of the darlings is broken by the knights own failure to hold the vision. At the point when she sobbed it is another pointer that the dream would end. He longs for a chilly slope and a grim open country. This sudden change is normal for ditties. This fantasy demonstrates the passing of creative mind and the arrival of the knight to desensitizing reality. He hears the past casualties of the Lady who had sustained him and afterward hardheartedly removes her blessings. She demolishes every one of those that go looking for her; of creative mind and motivation. The knight is left unfulfilled and with torment. Keats recommends that creative mind too has its inescapable and characteristic decay. Either understanding can be kept up; the sonnet unites the two perspectives as it reflects the contention in Keats own psyche.

Analysis of the Bioethical Issues in Gattaca Essay Example For Students

Analysis of the Bioethical Issues in Gattaca Essay Biology is the science of life. Technology uses science to solve problems. Our society has progressed in its understanding of life to the point that we are able to manipulate it on a fundamental level through technology. This has led to profound ethical dilemmas. The movie Gattaca explores some important bioethical issues that are currently the focus of much dispute. The underlying thematic issue presented is the question of the extent to which biologically inherent human potential determines the true potential of a person. Perhaps the most controversial issue in Gattaca is the use of genetic engineering technology in humans to create a more perfect society; this is, essentially, a new method of Eugenics. Another related issue seen in the movie is that of pre-natal selection. Through the use of the same or similar technologies, parents are able to choose the characteristics with which their children will be born. The controversy of these issues stems from the immense potential in genetic sciences for both positive use and harmful misuse. Though the questions and fears of critics reflect the wisdom of caution, the potentially unlimited benefits mandate that we pursue these technologies. The central subject of Gattacas plot is human potential. This is an important bioethical issue and is basically an example of the classic argument: Nature v. Nurture. The debate is of the role of nature compared to the role of environment in the shaping of personalities and other mental and physical characteristics. Psychologists have argued on this issue extensively. In the context of genetics and the movie Gattaca, the debate is of the respective roles of original genetic makeup and environment in determining the true potential of a person. The movies theme is There is no gene for the human spirit. The main point asserted by the movie is that determination, human spirit, and other factors not genetically inherited substantially affect a persons abilities and potential for excellence. This is shown through the accomplishments of the genetically inferior main character, Vincent. Vincent was naturally conceived and born, leaving flaws in his genetic code that could have been eliminated through engineering. Notwithstanding, he is able to outperform his genetically engineered colleagues in the Gattaca space program. The movie is primarily about the difficulties he faces because of discrimination that results from judging a persons worth based only on their genetic profiles. Many fear that this sort of discrimination could become a reality in our future. Legislation has already been passed to prevent discrimination based on genetic testing. In the movie this sort of legislation existed but was ignored. Obviously, the plot would have been much different if such legislation were adequately enforced. Eugenics is the name given by Francis Galton to a theory for improving humanity through judicious matings.. . to give the more suitable races or strains of blood a better chance of prevailing speedily over the less suitable. However, this process for bettering society through biological improvement is an indirect method. Through advanced technology, the step of selective breeding could possibly be bypassed. With these technologies it may be possible to directly and dynamically manipulate genetic code. The change of this code is the direct cause of change in the genetic product: people. But what is the desired product? What kind of people do we want, and with what characteristics? These questions exemplify the ethical quandaries raised by these procedures. Worried critics point to the extreme application of eugenic ideas in Nazi Germany. Others are simply opposed to any tampering with nature by the inadequate hands of humankind. In the movies time period of the not too distant future, genetic engineering technology is far progressed from todays capabilities. The predicted abilities to eliminate genetic propensity for disease and instill high intellectual faculties are presented as routine for the characters in Gattaca. Still, many experts believe that those days and procedures are near indeed. .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .postImageUrl , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:hover , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:visited , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:active { border:0!important; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:active , .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u767661ea8108cc7fc8f99d57f5fee65f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Drunk Driving as a Social Issue Essay Many would call the technological predictions expressed by the movie conservative. No one knows what unimaginable feats these technologies may enable in the future. For many people, though, this only compounds the moral concerns involved with these studies. Obviously, these developments need to be pursued in a prudent manner. In Gattaca, pre-natal .

Childhood Reveled essays

Childhood Reveled essays Childhood Revealed takes us into the hearts and minds of children who live with a specific challenge in their cognitive, psychological, or physical aspect of their life. For these children, drawing, and writing about their drawings, are ways of finding solutions or communicating with anyone that will listen. Remarkably, their resilient natures lead them to correct what is wrong, fix what is broken, and heal what is scarred. Their desire to triumph, their instinct to dream is their most telling, most disarming quality. As an abused girl of eleven writes of her drawing: This picture is bright and shows that I feel happier and am progressing. The flower with the brown middle shows that I still feel angry. I have courage inside and know that I can do much better in life. Children shouldnt feel that it is always their fault. It is estimated that 12 percent of American children endure mental health problem, yet less than one-fifth receive treatment. Childhood revealed has been created by the New York University Child Study Center, which is dedicated to advancing research and clinical care for children. For this book, The Center invited child and adolescent clinicians and teachers nationwide to submit artwork made by children from ages four to eighteen. A select jury of scholars, artists, and educators made the final selection of more than one hundred artworks of the New York University Child Study Center to bring awareness and understanding to the issues of child and adolescent mental health including: depression, eating and anxiety disorders, psychosis, ADHD, autism, abuse, and divorce. Depression is a rare disorder for children under the age of twelve, affecting only 1 to 2 percent of children five to eleven years of age. By the time children hit puberty, an estimated 8 percent of young people twelve to eighteen (nearly twice as many girls as boys) suffer from major depression disorder. Depression in ch...

In this case, the parent is Batman and the subsidiary is Robin. A. This means that the investing company, Batman is willing to pay more that the total value of the stockholder's equity. There are many good reason why companies agree to pay more than the acquired company's actual net worth. some of the reasons are: A. The pre acquisition journal entry is also known as the elimination entry. The journal entry made such as investment in subsidiary is credited. The original entry where the stockholders' equity amounts are credited is now debited. The main reason for such pre -acquisition entry is to produce a correct combined financial statement where the assets, liabilities and stockholders' equity accounts are lumped together. Based on the above declaration, the dividends declared after acquisition is bigger than the dividends declared before acquisition. The main reason is that the income derived from combined financial statement shows that the is higher then the pre acquisition net income.

Native Remains Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Native Remains - Essay Example Bush, Congress passed the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act† (Townsend and Nicholas 596 ), also known as NAGPRA. It is a federal law of the USA. Its purpose is to return the remains, artifacts, and all Native Americans’ sacred objects to Indian tribes. NAGPRA gives â€Å"Native American tribes the legal authority to reclaim artifacts from federally funded museums, colleges, and all types of institutions. What happens to the artifacts is then up to the tribe† (â€Å"Who should own Native American artifacts?†). As a rule, there are advantages as well as disadvantages of NAGPRA. The main achievement of NAGPRA is that it â€Å"resulted in immediate repatriation of the remains of many tribes’ ancestors† (Townsend and Nicholas 596). According to Riffe’s video, there is a belief that the spirit â€Å"does not abandon the body after the death†. It means that without proper burial ceremony the soul of a person will not be able to move on. â€Å"It can harm or be harmed by the living† (Riffe). Hundreds of Indian remains have been taken home and their descendants have fulfilled their duties. One of the most striking stories is the history of Cheyenne. Defenseless people were not only killed. They were â€Å"decapitated and their heads shipped back to Washington as freight† (Townsend and Nicholas 596). It was a real violation of all human rights. It resulted in a lot of sufferings for the relatives of the murdered Native Americans, who by 1990 have almost lost their hope to assure that their ancestors will find their resting places. The biggest problem was to find all parts of the body, because according to the Indian rules, only the whole body can be buried. Also, sacred artifacts, which were once made by their ancestors, were given back to Native Americans. Such objects are important, sometimes even indispensable, for different kinds of rites or rituals. But the process of returning is not as simple as it may seem. NAGPRA

Madness in Love in William Shakespeare Essay Example for Free

Madness in Love in William Shakespeare Essay Madness in Love in William Shakespeare’s â€Å"Twelfth Night† There are many definitions for love, but there are also many definitions for madness. Both words, when joined together, create an endless possibility of emotions and actions one can bare to hold for the sake of another. Madness can be described as â€Å"senseless folly†. When a person is in love with another, they tend to define their feelings of passionate affection for this other person. Shakespeare’s concept was to involve some of his characters with this feeling. In Twelfth Night, madness is created by the misconception and misunderstanding due to love. Mainly, it is said that Love is one of the most significant types of madness. It leads to causes like confusion and chaos in mind, mentality, and behavior. In the Twelfth Night, the Duke Orsino falls madly in love with Olivia. Orsino describes his love towards Olivia deeper than he could imagine, â€Å"So full of shapes is fancy, that it alone is high fantastical†. Orsino loses his focus on reality as he says â€Å"For such as I am all true lovers are. Unstaid and skittish in all motions else, save in the constant image of the creature, that is beloved. †(P. 34) The only thing that is real for him at the moment is anything that has to do with his â€Å"beloved creature†, the beautiful Olivia. We also see Olivia’s senseless acts come to play as she finds herself smitten after her first encounter with Cesario: †I do I know not what, and fear to find. Mine eye too great a flatterer of my mind. [†¦]What is decreed must be – and be this so! †(P. 24) Olivia finds herself unable to think properly because she is so distracted and flustered by the attractive looks of Cesario. Another interpretation could be that Olivia’s affection has been taken and used up by Cesario due to the loss of her brother and she refuses to share her love with anyone else. Later on in the play Malvolio’s madness changes from the state of being madly in love and committing crazy acts of devotion to the state of being in madness or chaos because of the misunderstanding of the situation. He thinks it was Olivia who wrote the trick note when it was really Maria, Toby, and Andrew who tried to trick him. They created a letter, pretending to be Olivia, telling Malvolio what will make her happy. The letter did not even state that it was Olivia, but because Malvolio was excited to gain her favor he jumped to the conclusion that it was her. Malvolio’s infatuation for Olivia was so great it clouded his ability to think properly. â€Å"Daylight and champion discovers not more! †, is Malvolio’s first comment as he finished reading. He was so desperate to please Olivia and gain her love, he jumps straight to the conclusion that she wrote the letter for him. The little acts of devotion Maria mentioned in the letter were so absurd Malvolio was willingly ready to fulfill all of them: â€Å"I do not now fool myself, to let imagination jade me, for every reason excites to this, that my lady love me. I will be strange, stout, in yellow stockings, and cross-gartered, even with the swiftness of putting on. †(P. 44) Malvolio enters into a state of madness and confusion because he feels no one else knows what he is talking about. Whether madness was created due to acting foolishly because of an infatuated feeling or acting with intense emotion over someone you really care about, all these situations were because of love. In the words of Friedrich Nietzsche, â€Å"there is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness†. Shakespeare’s characters Orsino, Olivia, and Malvolio, all had a cause for their madness, and it was because of their love for somebody else. Sometimes it is a feeling that comes over you that you think is love but it doesn’t have to mean that it is simultaneously true.

Iago, the Outsider of Shakespeare’s Othello Essay -- essays research

In any story with a recurring dark theme there always must be an outsider from humanity who somehow stands out from the seemingly equal community. In the case of Shakespeare’s Othello the outsider from humanity would be Iago for he truly stands out from the rest of society. Although Othello may be physically put out of the community, it seems that on an emotional and egotistical level Iago puts himself out of society further then Othello’s blackness does. He is not merely manipulative, as other villains are; he turns aspects of truth and good qualities, which he does not possess, and uses them as weakness for his own scheme. He deceives people to follow his plans by telling them the truth and what seems to be good advice. By standing on the side and watching people he seems to learn more about them then they even know themselves. He seems to envy these people and the relationships that they possess, becuase he will never know what these connections feel like. He uses p eople’s strengths as their weaknesses to bring them to their doom. He causes much destruction and is driven by a force that the reader cannot even understand. Iago makes himself an outsider by not realizing that his ego causes him to hate and disrespect all of humanity. Iago respects no one and yet is cunning enough to make people continue to trust and respect him. This is a truly super human quality in Iago that allows him to manipulate people to do what he wants without them knowing. He is married to Emilia, and although the reader would see marriage as a sacred bond, Iago manipulates it for his selfish ways. It may be his careless marriage that causes him to feel that he must destroy Desdemona’s and Othello’s. This would show his childish, jealous mentality towards others. The reason he treats Emilia so badly may be that he blames her for their dysfunctional marriage. From this, she has gained a perhaps not so tainted image of men and husbandry. She describes men â€Å"are all but stomachs, and we all but food; they eat us hungerly, and when they are full, they belch us.† (III, iv, 98-100) Iago treats Emilia as if she were a slave at his every whim and she knows it but for some reason Iago has tricked her into thinking thatâ €™s the way life is in marriage; so although Emilia may seem like the more experienced character in the play she herself cannot even see the corruptness in Iago’s ways. Ano... ... His plan stays secretive throughout the entire play. It leaves the characters in the play as well as the reader with an eerie brooding feeling at the end. The only reason that comes to mind is his jealousy of the nobility that the other characters possess. It may be that there is no motive but his pure hatred for humanity and if he must be a part of it, he will create a hell for everyone else in it.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Iago is the perfect villain in the sense that he is a true outsider from humanity. You can almost respect him in the fact that he can do such wrong with absolutely no recognition of the destruction he has caused. Plus he is able to manipulate people’s good qualities such as trust and love and use them for his own immoral benefit. It may be that Iago himself does not possess any of these good qualities so he cannot understand goodness or it might be that he is merely jealous of the beautiful relationships and noble people surrounding him and he has had enough. Whatever the reason, Iago purposely puts himself outside of humanity because he is egotistical in nature and feels that he deserves to disrespect everyone. Shakespeare, William. Othello. How Workers Attitude and Job Satisfaction Affect Their Work.

Thesis Statements: Attitude and Job Satisfaction: A worker attitude towards work is directly linked to the job satisfaction; a worker who is satisfied with his job performs better and excels at what he does. It is therefore imperative for a company to understand the attitude of its workers and measure the job satisfaction of its employees, as job satisfaction is essential for productivity. Introduction Worker attitude and job satisfaction deals with how an organization behaves. It involves the management directing employees into improving organizational and personal effectiveness. It plays an enormous role in determining the attitudes of employees and their job satisfaction. When an employee is happy, it is usually because they are satisfied with their work. This also improves the quality of their work. Attitude and job satisfaction may not fall completely on the management but also on the employees. If employees enjoy their work, they will not need external motivation from management , but instead the satisfaction they attain from completing their work will motivate them (Robbins, 2004). Job satisfaction is an individual’s contentment with their work. Its effect on productivity is either positive or negative. The relationship between job satisfaction and job productivity is however not consistent. An individual may still obtain high job productivity without having the satisfaction in the work. This happens mostly when money is their motivation. Another motivator is improving in his or her work in order to receive a promotion. Other employees may increase their productivity due to the satisfaction they get from their work. A reason for job satisfaction may also come from an employee getting a good salary. It improves job satisfaction as long as an employee has knowledge of the fact that they get fair payment for their efforts at the end of the day. Job satisfaction has an effect on an individual’s satisfaction with life. If an employee does not get sa tisfaction in their work, they may seek for satisfaction in other work unrelated areas. This provides fulfillment and balance in their life. He or she may also be content with work as it relates with those work unrelated areas. Job dissatisfaction may also cause an employee to quit (Robbins, 2004). How Workers Attitude and Job Satisfaction Affect Their Work.An employee’s attitude towards authority may affect his or her relationship with management. Negative attitude towards authority will cause clashes in the work place. Psychology is another reason that affects an individual’s attitude. Another reason for a negative attitude towards authority is jealous for their position. This attitude affects job productivity in a negative way. If the workers attitude is a negative one so is their ability to produce positive results. Worker attitude and job satisfaction are two factors that affect a company’s productivity. There are different issues that affect worker attitude and job satisfaction either in a negative or positive way. These issues include the management, employee, sociology, communication, culture, and work environment. Management Role The management’s style of leading plays a huge role in worker attitude and job production. Empowerment is one factor that can motivate better productivity. If the management gives an employee opportunity to work according to their own standards, preferred that these standards measure up to those of the company, job productivity will increase.Human empowerment is satisfactory to every individual. Self-satisfaction leads to job satisfaction. We also have strategic planning by management. This is crucial when dealing with influencing job productivity. An example of a way to motivate employees is the management offering them opportunities for promotions and pay rise negotiations. This will encourage job productivity since employees will want to receive these rewards (Jackson, 2002). Organizational objec tives also affect how the management relates with the employees. If the organizational goal is to achieve a certain percentage of profit in a business year, then it will exert pressure on the employees to increase productivity. Positive influence is not the only way to ensure an increase in productivity. Some organizations offer contracts that clear states the amount of productivity needed from employees. This is in the case of sales and marketing where a sales representative needs to achieve a target on a certain deadline. This may mount pressure on the employees and in turn affect their job satisfaction. In some cases, the management is not as strict with the employees. The problem with this is that the employees might eventually relax on the job. An organization may also decide to add more working days depending on their goals. Complying with such a decision is hard and it may leave the employees bitter and resentful towards management. This attitude will affect job productivity, a s the employees will arrive to work with no motivation. Another factor in work attitude is time away from work. Apart from free time on the weekend, which is compulsory according to work ethics, employees need to take time off from work. This normally is the leave period (Jackson, 2002).Employee Role Some individuals choose professions that they like while others end up in their profession due to pressure. Pressure may come from the need to make money or a parent or guardian deciding on what their kids will do. When one chooses something they love doing or has an interest in, then they are content and happy about what they do. Love for a profession encourages a positive attitude. This is all the motivation employees need when it comes to productivity. A happy employee is a productive employee. When an employee loves what they are doing, they attain job satisfaction. This automatically affects productivity in a positive way. Productivity however suffers with negative employees who onl y work to make money. Their aim is to increase their productivity in order to get more money but this eventually makes them stressful and bitter. Since they have no interest in the work, satisfaction is hard for them to achieve. This is another form of motivation but is not sufficient. The two major ways for employees to improve, productivity in their professional areas is the choice of profession. Employees need ways to relieve their stress if they want to improve their work attitude and productivity.Work related stress is common among most employees. This is especially by employees that do not experience any job satisfaction from their work. Stress is something that may lead to more serious illnesses. This lowers productivity from the absence of employees in the work place. Stress is relieved by taking breaks from work, exercising, socializing with friends, and having fun. Psychological development is also another factor that affects attitude. Since psychology is what determines h uman behavior, it affects how we react and relate with others.Every one of us reacts differently to different situations. An example is when management is brutally honest about an employees work, some may take it is a warning to do better others may take it as criticism and give up. This depends on how an individual makes decisions. External factors such as the family, relationships, financial status are a few of other things that also affect the employees’ attitude. A healthy employee is a productive employee and a happy one. Social Role Our social behavior affects our work. This is in regard to introverts and extroverts. An introvert will not easily socialize with people. This affects their performance in a situation that needs teamwork. Teamwork requires all individuals to communicate with each other. If employees cannot work well together, it affects productivity. A company that encourages teamwork experiences higher productivity. Extroverts are aggressive people and some people may try to avoid them. Relationships in the work place affects attitudes and in turn productivity. If employees have a close relationship with each other, employees work well together and their attitudes improve as well.An improvement in attitude improves job productivity and satisfaction. In order to improve this relationship, some organizations encourage team building by dedicating a few days for members to socialize. This is through encouraging games in this sessions or providing projects for them to do. Interaction between employees helps them know each other better and beyond the work place. It improves their relationship and attitude towards each other (Edwards, 2004). Social role also involves the relationship between employees and management. In most organizations, this relationship is usually strictly professional. The only time the two interact is while it involves work. This is a way for the management to ensure that they have an upper hand towards the employees. Th is may lead to employees withdrawing from the management due to fear. Fear affects productivity, as the employee cannot approach the management if he/she is having trouble. They may imagine that the management will see this as a weakness. A good relationship is one where the management associates with its employees openly. Respect is the only thing that needs establishment between the two. This way, it is easy for employees to approach the management.A good relationship will improve employee productivity by improving their attitude and encouraging job satisfaction. Another social factor is competition. This is due to human nature to prove themselves. Employees may compete amongst each other for appraisal or a chance to grab an available higher position. This is a way for productivity to improve. Their attitude will depend on whether the competition is a healthy or an unhealthy one. An unhealthy one will lead to stress (Edwards, 2004). Communication Communication is how information t ransmits between the management and employees or between the employees themselves.Employees need to be free with the management in order to approach them when they are having trouble. Good communication has a positive effect on the employee’s job satisfaction. When all their needs a met, they can easily perform their duties efficiently. This increases job productivity and in turn improves the workers attitude. Communication is also important between employees. Employees need to maintain a good relationship with each other in order to communicate efficiently. Respect is an important factor in communication. In every organization, respect needs to drive how they communicate.A good way to implement communication between management and employees is by planning meetings. These meetings should allow employees to ask questions and express their opinion. Management should ask employees for their input and suggestions in matters concerning them. This will make the employees feel even more part of the organization. It will improve the relationship of everyone in the organization. Good communication leads to a good relationship that in turn improves employee attitude and job productivity (Mitchell). Culture The differences in culture affects people’s attitude.Different cultures have different practice. Some cultures do not allow their employees to work for certain amounts of hours. This may affect an individual if a transfer occurs and they get to a work situation that encourages more working hours. He/she will develop a negative attitude towards work. In some cultures, individuals are risk takers. They enjoy doing things beyond their capabilities. They attain satisfaction both in life and in work. There is no better motivation to improve their job productivity than this. In others, employees are hardworking. Their attitude towards work is usually a positive one (Jackson, 2002).Work environment A positive work environment improves on employee attitude. This depends on other employees, the management and the available resources. If an organization takes care of their employees by providing all needed resources, then their productivity will improve. Job productivity increases a business performance and profits, which in turn ensures that employees receive their salary frequently. When the business performs well then the employees are happy. A good performance in the organization gives the employees a positive attitude that improves their individual performance. As long as the employees are happy and performing, job productivity will increase. Job satisfaction improves employee’s relationships with customers. A good working relationship such as that one will increase on the sales of goods and services. Some company’s offer their employees bonuses especially during the holidays. This acts as an encouragement to the workers and improves their relationship with management. In departments such as sales and marketing, employeeâ⠂¬â„¢s performance can improve if given bonuses or commission when they bring in more sales clients. With this knowledge, the employee’s performance is sure to improve drastically (Edwards, 2004). Conclusion The duty of management and the employee in improving workers attitude is debatable. Some may argue that it is up to the employee to ensure that they attain job satisfaction from their work, as they are the only ones in control of their attitude and performance. It is also possible to say that all the responsibility is entirely the managements. They decide on the nature of the environment in which the employee works. The management holds the power to control employee salary, off time and promotion. External factors such as the environment, social situations, and culture also affect worker attitude and job satisfaction. In my opinion, it is up to both the parties to decide on worker attitude and job satisfaction. The most notable case of survival cannibalism is the case of the Donner party of 1846. A group of 90 immigrants led by George Donner was caught in a blinding snowstorm high in the Sierra Nevada range of California in October 1846.
